Docs That Rock

More on the Legend of Sid and Nancy

There may have been no junkie love quite like the one between Sid Vicious of the Sex Pistols and Nancy Spungen. As many remember, it ended badly, with Nancy dead in a room filled with blood and needles in the Chelsea Hotel and Sid being charged with her death. (Sid died months later of an overdose himself.) A documentary on the case, Who Killed Nancy, has finally reached U.S. shores after opening overseas. The film reenacts their romance and in particular the night of Nancy’s death, arguing that Sid may not have been the killer. (The director posits that police never explored other leads and ignored other potentially contradictory evidence.) The New York Times called the film “an unruly mash-up of terrific anecdotes and terrible teeth, grainy film and garish memories.” It’s playing now at the Cinema Village in New York City.

  1. What a mess they were… exactly why it is #1 on my list of movies to force teens to watch so they never do drugs…
Thanks for this. Will look for it.
