Docs That Rock

Acronym Bands Gotta Stick Together

PiL is making a tour documentary thanks to an unlikely source. Per the Guardian, Johnny Lydon said the film is being funded by LCD Soundsystem, makers of this year’s probable best record This Is Happening. An odd pairing but Lydon explains the reasons behind it (sort of):

They are a strange bunch of people but I like them; they share the PiL philosophy. They have raised the money to film a documentary of our US tour. Can you think of anything better playing on your TV or in your movie house? Me on stage. Me in my underpants on a bus. Ha! It will be inspirational … to all those with a mind to be inspired.

Per Consequence of Sound, the film was taped at the band’s May 19 show at Brooklyn’s Music Hall of Williamsburg and directed by Alex Mar. No word yet on release date. The clip above gives a taste. It’s This is Not a Love Song taken from the band’s show in June in Amsterdam.
